airhose to airflow-meter (TR7-fi)

Hello together !

I need a new airhose for my car, because there is dripping oil through the
hose and this may inflow air from outside and causes worse engine running.

Does anyone know a supplier for a spare part ?
What do you use ?
The inside-diameter is 2.75" (70mm), the lengh is nearly 16.54" (420mm).

Must i have a look at the purge line or canister purge line ?
Is it normal that there is little bit oil inside the airhose to the airflow-meter ?

regards

I have used silicone air hoses to replace the air ducts. There are several vendors, here is a link to one

http://www.autosiliconehoses.com

If memory serves me there is a connection to the PCV system in the metal angle duct that is at the front of the hose you have pictured. If the motor is tired then oil can escape though that hose into the one you have as it its the low spot.

Hello HDRider,

thanks for the fast response :)
the engine should have run less than 30.000 mls a he speedometer shows. The foreign owner
has overhaulin the engine. But i never made an compression test.
I only drove nearly 1000 mls when the clutch of the gearbox and the
heater valve of the AC got a failure. I will check the compression and PCV-valve when the engine is running again.
At the moment i`m going to reassemble the heater with new seals ,new heater valve, new AC-hoses,
dashboard, brakes etc.
At least i will also go for silicon hoses. But this will be one straight hose of 100mm and one 180° bow hose
connected with an 100mm Aluminium pipe.

I would take that silver tape off, clean it really good and double wind black duct tape around it. Use string like the original. It will look like the original. The oil is oil and fume condensate. Normal. The advantage is: costs next to nothing, looks original, last a long time (going on 14 years). I included a picture of what it should look like.

Hello FI Spider,

thanks for your suggestion. Your repair looks fine. But i' m going to
change it with a new one. I found a supplier for industrial hoses (suckhoses), who
produces a chemical resistant ,flexible with steelwire inlet ,heat resistant -40 to +135°C,
black vulanized , 0.7mm thickness and inside diameter 70mm hose.
The only problem is the minimum to order a length of 5m (196.85"). I hope that
i can reduce it to 1m (39.37"). It will cost nearly 20$ per 1m.

Hi Roger, If you're suffering from inconsistent rpm at idle it may be due to oil residue collecting in the throttle body around the butterfly valve.

I had to clean out the throttle body in my Mk3 Golf Gti every 12 months, otherwise the accumulated residue shut off the airflow around the valve at idle.
