Flamenco Red CAD

Hi folks

My TR7 is about to be primed in the paint shop and I need to ready the team for the topcoat. The correct shade is CAD Flamenco Red.

Does anyone know of the equivalent modern day paint code, so I can make sure they paint it in the correct colour?

Unless you're dying for originality, have some colour samples made using the original code (CAD) and see if you like it.
Work from there. Did it this way with all three restorations I carried out so far and worked well for me ...

Any decent body shop (in combination with a good paint supplier/manufacturer) should be able to match the colour with the original code and year.
At least Sikkens over here managed to do so twice till date. As you can see in the picture above their Topaz Orange (EAA) was spot on ...

I have just had 2 cars painted in Flamenco CAD … you body shop should be able to mix from the code 'CAD' - any problems then drop me a message

Looking good - hard to see if the shade is right from a photo - key thing is that YOU are happy with it :)

Thanks guys. The paintshop checked and double checked the "CAD" code and I am confident it is right.

Just the satin black bits to do now. Oh, and putting it back together!

Hi John,

Looks great. My old fixed head, which I still have but needs serious work, is flamenco. One day it will see the road again. In the meantime my Carnelian convertible has been painted and similarly now needs putting back together. Good luck with your rebuild.

Thanks Rich, much appreciated. It has been quite a long haul but seeing the colour go on really makes it all worthwhile. It would be great to see your FHC back on the road one day, plus of course the Carnelian red DHC likewise.

This might be a long shot, but does your FHC have a black rear lamp panel? The reason I ask is because I am after a photo to give to the painters, to show the spray lines for it particularly where the panel meets the rear wings.

Hi John,

Although my fixedhead is a Speke car which would originally have had the black back panel, it was sporting a red panel when I purchased it courtesy of the previous owner. I will of course aim to return it to the correct spec when I finally get round to doing the restoration. The convertible may be back on the road for the summer if I can just find enough time to get it done. Fingers crossed.

A few pictures of the rear of my current project, a 1976 FHC. Bottom of the car should be black originally
We did follow the panel seams as a guide for the tape, shouldn't be much off the mark ...

Hi folks

I went to see the car today and was really excited by what I found. I think they have done a great job on the paint. The car is sitting a bit high, mainly due to it being a bare shell. However I am a little alarmed by the rear ride height and will have to see if that settles down. I did use (new) bog standard springs and dampers and understand that the early cars were a little high. We'll see.
