Door Lock Jammed

Postby Stag76 » 04 Jan 2018 09:01

I've got a door lock that will release the main locking mechanism, but will not release the
secondary lock. I've taken the door trim off, but cannot see anything disconnected or broken.
Vision and accessibility is limited by the window channel, but the door needs to be open to remove it.
Is there a separate mechanism that releases the secondary lock?

It's not happened to me, but I seem to recall there is a plastic part in the latch mechanism that gets burred and wont release, hopefully this mat trigger someone else's memerory who has had the problem.
Otherwise you might have to dig through the archives.

From what I can remember of old posts the method of opening was to have an assistant lift the handle while you lay across the seats and firmly plant a size 9+ against the door with some force. Sounds drastic but seemed to work.

This is also caused by the anti-burst latch needing lubrication. You just need to shoot some oil into the slot high and low. I usually oil the door mechanism at the same time.

And how I know it is time to clean/lube that latch is when I open the door, and then a few moments later hear the latch release.
