TR7 Door Seals

I am organising shipment from my manufacturer around Feb 18,
What I do need in mean time is exact measurements for original DHC seal and photo of the ends to see of they are sealed off. I plan to have some of these made and cut to exact size. Are you able to assist?

I posted the original picture you referenced with dimensions. i.e.


The shot is of original BL Au delivered door seals fitted to '78-80 FHC coupes. I am certain the pic is correct as I had three unrestored vehicles to compare the profile.

The lower outboard tube helped get a full seal, particularly around the upper rear section of the FHC doors.

The inner tube helped maintain a seal in the lower forward three-quarter section, e.g., where the occupant's heal tends to drag and tear the outer seal during entry and exit.

Re-manufacture as per original specs placed this evening for a modest number of both FHC & DHC seals, should be available late February.
The 2 samples I had commissioned are a high quality rubber expertly sealed at the corners,FHC, these seals should not disappoint TR7 owners looking for seals close to the original product.

FHC seals cut at right angles and vulcanized at manufacture giving a professional finish.

Thanks for the link, might be helpful in case I won't find anything locally.
I'll be visiting Techno Classica in Essen (Germany) next week, and I might even find a decent alternative there.

I'm not sure I'm getting this right. Tony has invested his time and his money to have original style FHC seals made, which are not available. Yet people keep trying to push people towards the seals in Canada that neither look original or fit that well. If you like the seals in Canada, great buy them or someone else's. But, why troll this thread by keep mentioning the seals that are neither original looking or fit that well here? I've installed the seals from Canada, on a TR7 coupe, I'm wasn't too happy with them for the reasons mentioned.

I'm amazed anyone tries to reproduce quality parts for these cars. Yet alone use his post to push someone else's products. And yeah, I bought two pairs of Tony's FHC seals and if they are like the pictures, I'll buy more. Because I appreciate someone going thru all the effort to get a high quality part in my hands.

This is one of the parts that are best to spend more money on to get the original quality part. To replace the driver door seal on my Spider I got a good used one from one of the two UK companies that specialise in TR7/8's. I would be interested in original quality set some time in the future for my Tumeric TR7 when I get to that point. It is good to know of other suppliers that don't have original quality parts so you don't waste money on them.

I understand Peter's point and all I can say is MacGregor's seals are the best for the TR3-6 but have no idea for the Wedge.
Have no idea about the UK ones

Certainly a good effort to have them re-manufactured, and much appreciated
Problem for me is that the cost for the seal almost doubles due to the cost of shipping them to the other end of the world

So I'll first look closer to home for good quality alternatives in the next week or so.
But I'll certainly bear your offer in mind for a FHC set in case I don't find an alternative next week.

I agree with Peter on this one. If someone has taken the time to go and get them made again to original spec, then why not support them and buy a set. I will be, I am planning to meet with Tony this Sunday to buy some fhc ones. I will let you all know how it goes, but I have great hopes that I will finally be able to throw away my old tatty set, that is currently on the car.

Finally this will be one job on the list for ages, that I hope to cross off.

I contacted macgregorukcarparts and the first thing that got me was that the price quoted had shot up from that listed on the site. I was told that the site was out of date. Then the issue of trying to get hold of them and then sort out payment. It just was getting a bit too much effort. So if we have a bit more selection of these items that are as rare as rocking horse teeth, that can only be a good thing for us all. As we know the main suppliers have not got any new ones in stock and only can supply good used sets.

P&P can be a bit of an issue. I have just ordered parts from the UK and the p&p was more than the total items, but it is one of them bitter pills we sometimes have to swallow. However, the way I would see it is that chances like this do not come around often, so grab it or you will regret it later.

I agree, postage is an issue for us all.
What we found when Peter recently purchased was it worked out better to buy 2 sets as weight was just shy of 5kgs so postage came in at approx $50 per set as opposed to $80 for one set. So best option is a joint purchase with another owner.
