Starter motor solinod

Can any body tell me do you grease in the solenoid chamber
or do you leave it , as i did strip down the starter motor
to service it

When I replaced mine, I didn't grease it, just a light coating of oil on the plunger mechanism.

Clean both the plunger and tube part of the solenoid then assemble dry. Do not use a lubricant (no oil or grease) as this will collect dirt and eventually lead to the plunger binding in the tube resulting in intermittent or no start. Rgds, DM
