Car very wet under drivers seat

Here’s where to discuss anything specific about your standard(ish) car or something that applies to the model in general.

Car very wet under drivers seat

Postby bonnietiler » 12 Dec 2016 17:22

Decided to have a copurtle on the interior of the car today took the seats out..both Diaphragm's shot ,no surprise, took the carpets out and under the drivers seat it was ringing wet. No rot or anything nasty why do you reckon?
Also, I have a roll bar fitted connected at the sides with three bolts on each side now I could do with removed this for the refit but just wondered are they connected to captive nuts or how do you hold the nut whilst tightening the bolt or even the other way round if you catch my drift...
Cheers

That usually happens under the passenger seat after I've taken someone for a ride...
But I digress

We had to make up and weld a plate with captive nuts into my car to fit the roll bar so I expect yours will be something similar if it was done properly.

The roll bar could be attached by rivnuts........ I'd prefer welded captive nuts for an impact related safety item.

In the past water has entered the cabin via the door cards on the FHC. The water proof membrane wasn't put back properly after they doors were renovated.

Pretty scary if someone thought that rivnuts would be a good idea.

Make sure the weep holes in the bottoms of the doors are clear. Happened to me.
