SURELY there is a lonely set of SU carbs out there somewhere. the ZS set looks really complicated and the SU carbs on my MGs are things i already know how to operate.

Ted Schumacher at TSI Automotive is the man for this as he's supplied the necessary parts to many TR7 owners across the Atlantic. But I don't know if it's worth all the work unless you change the pistons too otherwise you're still going to have the de-tuned, low compression version of the 2 litre slant 4. Worth talking to Ted about perhaps.

Zenith carbs are slightly more complicated, don't have the range of needles that SU carbs do but unless you are modifying/racing this shouldn't matter. One works as good as the other. Zenith does have the rubber diaphragms that can introduce an extra source of failure through cracks/deterioration when older. This is confirmed by our club carb guy who does both. I would learn the slightly difference with the Zenith rather than spend hundreds on a SU set up unless you can get a set really cheap IMHO.
