what stops steering shaft moving bulk head area

hi all, :D
in the the tr7 engine compartment what stops the steering shaft moving around in the bulk head area . :?:
a photo to explain would be great please if any ones got one

There's a bush that goes in the bulkhead.

These perish/rot and cause slop. Just about to replace mine with the above.

Another option is to adapt a pillow bearing to support it.

That pillow bearing you showed looks like it would be heaps easier to fit than the Poly bush is for the steering column. Last poly bush I put in I resorted to grinding the sucker down , heating it, using a bloody great hammer whatever but they can be a bitch to fit
Forgive my ignorance but I've not heard of a pillow bearing but where do you source them?

Bearing Suppliers carry them, and there are plenty on EBAY. They are sometimes called "Fish-Eye" bearings.
The bearing is flexibly mounted, allowing it to be self aligning.

If you loosen the collapsing clamp on the steering shaft, undo the universal joint in the
engine bay, and withdraw the shaft from the firewall, it's not difficult to fit the poly bush.
