I have noticed a small leak from my sump plug. So the first thing I did was to tighten the plug as much as it will go (being careful not to over tighten). However, there still seems to be a bit of a leak. I will be ordering another plug and seal washer.

Has anyone had this before and did a new washer help?

You should always use a new sealing washer on a sump plug!

The copper washer 'work hardens' so it does not seal anymore. You can replace or anneal the washer by heating it to red and then letting it cool. This softens it and makes it more malleable and suitable for reuse.

Thanks for the replies guys. That is a cool idea about heating up the washer and letting it go cold again. New one will ne on order soon, even if just a spare.

Last night i ordered tje parts anf a spare washer for good luck. So when i am in the UK i will pick them up and bring them back with me. After a few weeks in England.

Unlikely you will need the new sump plug. Just replace the washer. supercass

You could've got the washer from you local Repco, Bursons, Autobarn etc stores
You'd need the size as they wont have a listing for a Triumph, so the best bet'd be to take the plug with you, drop it on the counter n' ask for a washer to fit.
