Its been stolen!

Here’s where to discuss anything specific about your standard(ish) car or something that applies to the model in general.

Its been stolen!

Postby bottomtop » 01 May 2016 01:13

Hello all,

Been a while but I thought I would put the word out that AXJ 673 (White FHC, 16v) was stolen from Fairfield Victoria (Australia) on the night of 29 April. I would love to get it back - please any local members keep an eye it for it (or its bits!)

Probably just some joyriding dickheads, hopefully they've just abandoned it without any further damage when they'd finished with it.
I recall a motorcycle that was stolen and abandoned, illegally parked, right outside the front of the Richmond police station, it was undiscovered by the idiot cops for two weeks!

And there was a stolen Jag sitting outside a mates place in Malvern for months, it wasn't discovered as stolen, until the local council finally got off their fat arses and decided to investigate the residents complaints.

So the car could well be sitting in a street somewhere.

I doubt it would've been knocked off to sell the parts as the market for these bits is very specialised, which would make such a proposition quite risky.
The market for our cars is also specialised so it's unlikely to have been pinched to sell on.
The professional crooks are too busy swiping stuff like Commodores, Subarus etc. stuff that is easy to sell because it has a large ready market of buyers who are either unsuspecting or aren't to fussy about where it came from.

I will keep my eyes peeled, for your car.

Sorry to hear the bad news.

I will put a note on the Canberra Club site re the theft, rego number and colour.
Hopefully Cobber is right and its been discarded somewhere nearby without damage.

I was thinking it'd show up, somewhere salubrious, like West Heidelberg, and sure enough it was just next door in Preston!
Just the sort of place you'd expect to find toothless dickhead bogans!
In fact you'd if you were to go just a block or so, up Bell st to the Olympic hotel, you'd probably find the deadshit that pinched it trying to sell the stereo!
Have you asked The guys at Supercheap if they have CCTV coverage of their car park?

Thanks for the good wishes and the suggestion re cctv. Apparently the reason they didn't get far is because the forgot to "un" hotwire it: The starter kept running until the battery went flat. Starter is totally cooked too.

I forgot to mention that I heard you on ABC radio 774 talking to John Faine about it.
