12 Fuse Block Order Help

Postby 1980Wedge » 25 May 2015 18:24

Hello,

I have a 1980 California TR7 EFI w/ AC. I took her out last night and noticed none of my interior lights work. I found the problem and put a new fuse in. As I was installing the new fuse, I noticed that there were 35A fuses in the 25A designated slots. Does anyone know the correct fuse block order for my TR7?

Cheers!

Has the fuse box cover got a sticker on the inside face showing a schematic of the fuse layout? Take care over the rating of the fuses too - the original Lucas fuses had a continuous current rating that was roughly half the blow rating. I understand that US fuses are rated differently so you would use a US fuse rated at half the stated value of the British fuse e.g. the 25 amp Lucas fuse would be equivalent of a 12 amp US fuse (are these known as BUSS fuses over there?). The 35 amp fuses in 25 amp slots would worry me!

Alternatively I think you can get correctly rated fuses for British cars from some of the specialists in the US.

Thanks Tony,

I know the differences between the UK and US fuses. I replaced the fuse broken with repro from the Wedgeshop. However I am still confused why there is a 35A fuse in a 25A slot as well as several 25A fuses in 10A slots. Is this a special fuel injection order?

The fuse panel is a little confusing. I have the label at the back so stuff in the glove compartment doesn't wreck it. When you turn it around to read it is that the fuse sequence or is the correct sequence as it faces the rear? The right fuses should be on the right spots but which right spot is that. The PO may have been as confused as I and put them in backwards. I don't touch it as one fuse holder is dodgy but works so I don't look at it sideways.

The other possibility is it blew a few fuses so he upped the rating (not a good thing to do) or he didn't have the right rating so just put inn the next bigger fuse he had (not a good thing to do).....twice.
