Reverse Light Switch

Just a quick one.

Reversing lights never worked in my ownersship, 18 months, looked at the switch, only one terminal, nothing like std. part. I had assumed it would work like door contact, with operation of switch making earth connection.

The terminal has a neat plastic covered female connector and nothing else, were single ones like this ever fitted ? cannot find in parts cats.

Alternatively there is a loose wire with connector nearby with scotch lock to side, but nothing to connect it to. The car is quite original..

Hi,

Cant say I have ever come across a reverse light switch you describe. In standard form they are a two wire switch with a plunger that completes the circuit when pushed down by the selector mechanism, a very generic switched used on a lot of BL cars of that age.

Normally with green with a tracer wires connected. Possibly the wire you mention with the FIRE STARTER or more commonly called a scotch lock ( hate those things, should be illegal IMHO [V] )
