Contact points

Some of you will advise me to go electrical and I probably will at some point.
But: I want to adjust the contact points the right way at least once.
One question that stays in my mind while fiddling around: does the flywheel go off?
It would make life a lot easier. With the airfilterhousing plus the bonnetlock off it still feels like a surgical job.
I did manage to change the contactpoints for a new one. Taping the screws to the screwdriver with some ducktape helped me a lot.
Without the flywheel I at least would see what I'm doing.
It feels like I can't get the contactpoints close enough through the slide to the axe for the spring to open. The feeler fits in between, but stays under tension.
Taking the whole thing out would mean timing the motor. I do have a stroboscope, but what I don't have yet is a running motor..
Thanks a lot for any advise!
