A Headlight Question

Postby 76tr7rules » 17 Sep 2014 14:40

I recently replaced my headlight switch with a new one and my turn signal switch, and my headlights were working perfect. Now its a month later I went out to start the car and use the headlights they pop up the dash and marker lights come on but the headlights don't light. Could the switch already have failed? If I pull the turn signal switch the high beams light as long as I hold the lever once I let go they're back off. Any ideas?

Did you fit relays for the protection of the switch to the headlight circuit?

New Lucas switch? very likely, mine does the same thing however I can usually get them to turn on by pressing down hard on the switch.

I actually just bought a Turn Signal Switch and Headlight switch from Sportscarpartsltd on eBay. The Signal switch was Lucas but I dont think the headlight switch was. Turns out the Lucas turn signal switch had a loose pin on the harness. I pushed it in using the tip of a small screw driver and my lights came right back on.

Good find. Remember the old saying, "Lucas the prince of darkness."

Growing up I was told the old joke. Why do the British drink warm beer? Because they had Lucas Refrigerators. LOL
