Took Apart Hazard switch

Postby 76tr7rules » 08 Aug 2014 22:07

Hey guys,
So I bought another Tr7. This one is a 79 FHC with a Mazda Rotary motor in it. Its apparently someones half finished project. Right now Im working on fixing and neatening up the electrical and have gotten most of it fixed. All of my dash switches are very corroded. I replaced the headlight switch because it melted. I took apart the hazard switch and got it nice and clean. But I cant remember which way the little brass "H" shaped contact goes in. Theres a little seperation between like the legs of the "H" on one side and I cant remember if that goes on the side with the hole for the indicator light or on the opposite side. Also where are the 2 flasher units located in the car.

That'll teach you to take pictures as you disassemble things. Not to worry I didn't with the light switch and had to go through every normally open/normally closed point to make sure I had it right. Took a awhile The light switch has a fair amount of electricity going through it so if it's dirty the resistance goes up and the heat increases, just like a light bulb. See if these pictures of the hazard help. One flasher is the turn signal (under steering column) and one is the hazard.

I cleaned the copper contacts with Brasso then put on some dielectric grease to keep them clean.
