I agree with that one.
I changed the window track felts on the weekend which means removing the window. Seemed like an simple job but anything inside the door is a nightmare!
Not going to attempt the other door until I forget how much trouble it was, should take long at my age.

Sorry, that should read "shouldn't take long" but I forgot what I was talking about!

Really, the window regulator? I have done both sides twice and they aren't fun but not THAT bad. I think there is a trick to it, but I can't remember the details. I remember struggling with it, then suddenly they worked.
I had the worst time installing a new convertible top. That was no fun and I'm not too happy about how it looks.

Window regulator? Not a big deal, maybe a moderate deal at best. I had no real problem with either side.

For me the window mechanism was ok on the passengers side. Bit lucky, but I was shocked at how well it all went in. Apart from that most of the jobs seem to be a pain, but the engine and gearbox out twice was a real pain. The job that I am not looking forward to soon though is the alignment of the doors. They were new ones and just do not sit right at all. Did the oil pump gauge recently, that was not bad at all.

I have got a Rimmers kit to overhaul the windows, complete mechanisms, seals etc and you guys are putting me off the job. Never done a TR7 one but cut my arms to pieces on several other cars over the years. Why don't they make the access holes a bit bigger, or would that be too easy?

I've done the doors, stripped them out, took out quarter lite windows to disassemble and paint them, the job isn't that bad it's just a little fidley getting rollers in the guide. Worst job, changing the clutch. About the only thing I haven't done a water pump or head pull yet they're just too reliable.

I have done one in the 8, & one in the 7.
Refitting the 8 was a nightmare, as I did not have the mechanism at the right height for instillation.
The second one I just happened to have the stuff at the right spot, [about 3/4 up I think from memory] & it was a breeze.

Hi,
Never had a problem with regulators, after the first dozen or so you sort of work it out [:p]
I think seized on heads had a few of those, pre head honcho days and trying to get decent door gaps on a door skinned off the car [V] very frustrating !
Cheers John

I did a window regulator and can`t remember it being difficult but it was so long ago I might have just forgotten.
For me the worst job by far is cylinder head removal which I have attempted twice, once failing altogether and once managing it using lots of plus gas and brute force - nightmare job.
