Morning all,

Can anyone tell me the cost of a tax disc on a 1980 2.0 litre DHC please.
I am comparing trailering the car to the port against buying a part year tax disc (is it 6 months?)

Thanks Ian

Got mine a few weeks back for putting the car back on the road 1st May and it was £126.50 for 6 months.

If you're only going to drive the car to a port and export it you can tax it for 6 months and then send the tax disc back to the DVLA when you've finished with it for a refund of any outstanding tax. They will repay any full months you have left.

Thanks I checked it out on the internet so should only cost about 20 quid to do it like that.

Possibly slightly more, when you buy 6 months tax you are paying a 10% uplift over the 12 months price. When you apply for a refund you only receive it at the 12 month rate not the uplifted rate.
