Throttle Cable

So my original throttle cable broke, the ball on the end at the gas pedal came off.
So I replaced it with a new cable a month ago and today the new cable broke, totally different spot.
The plastic par that holds the cable in the firewall just in front of the gas pedal destroyed itself and the sleeve of the cable looks like an accordion.
Has anyone else had this problem and/or can you recommend a good throttle cable to use? I bought this one from the wedge shop, I am going to call him on Monday to see what he thinks, but in the meantime I post here.
I like the wedge shop and have always received good products from them. I think this cable must have had a defect maybe.

Check your engine to body earth strap.
Sounds like the throttle cable is passing current and melting the solder around the ball at the pedal end.

This recent break is not at the ball, it is the plastic part that holds the close end of the cable in the firewall in front of the pedal.

Does your throttle stick when you accelerate from idle? If it does the broken cable is caused by a link in the carbs (I had to jury rig a repair half way around Europe so am very familiar with the problem)

You really should check these out.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/151278468353 I replaced my last cable with one of these and the car drives much better. This is the replacement cable that BL put out, with the fancy swivel clip and proper routing instructions. It is also the correct length.

Thanks, I just bought one.....
No, the throttle does not stick. It actually moved very easy. I am amazed that there was enough stress on the outer sleeve to actually break the plastic tip at the firewall and accordion the outer sleeve.

Any particular install instructions for the throttle cable? I already installed a new one, but that just recently broke.
Is there anything specific that I should know about installing throttle cables? Adjusting, etc???
