Fault finding: Indicators

Hi,
If the indicators work when you use the hazard warning switch, but not with the indicator switch, is it sure to be the switch at fault?

They were working fine a few days ago, but took the battery off to do a job. Put it back on yesterday and this is the result. Indicator switch is quite expensive (for what it is), so want to look for other causes first

Cheers

It can be from dirt/debris in the 4 way switch. Usually if you cycle the 4 way several times the directional function will work again.

The best thing to do is to clean the contacts in the 4 way switch but cycling it will get you home quickly if not permanently.

Thanks for the reply.

The solution was quite simple. The hazard warning switch runs off a different circuit (at least on my car). It turned out to be a blown fuse. [:I]

I was refurbishing the windscreen wipers motor, and I obviously haven't don't it properly as the motor doesn't turn and the fuse burns out. May just buy a recon unit now.
