After rather too much enthusiasm refurbing all 4 springs I am now trying to identify them. They were all painted red when removed and now are all black. Not thinking about them at the time I now find that they all appear to look the same and I cannot readily identify the pairs front/rear or which is a front or rear spring.Stupid mistake I know but is there any way of identifying them?.Thanks in anticipation Steve..

Can you pair them up or do they all look identical?

If you put up a picture of them side by side, someone here will recognise them. We're sad like that[:)]

Another lesson learned, one we've all had to at one time or another. Label everything a you take it off the car as it comes off and take pictures before with some old digital camera (so it doesn't matter if it gets dirty). Memory is a wonderful thing except when trying to use it to reassemble a car. And the older you get the less you have of it.[:p]

On these cars in general the larger diameter springs are the ones for the front.
In this picture the ones on the outside ...

Thanks for your replies.A closer inspection after Beans' post and a trial reassembly of the struts does indeed show a pair of springs to be bigger diameter and only these will fit over the upper spring mount.I have taken lots of photos of the car in varying stages of dissasembly but have cunningly missed all the important points.Alesson learned maybe?.Thanks again Steve...
