Hello, I am new to this forum I decided to finally work on my TR7

I need help finding the ballast resistor on a 1976 TR7 Triumph Dual HS6.

Starter Relay is circled in black. The left yellow wire goes to the ballast wire. The right yellow wire goes to the ignition coil. The ballast wire is in orange. The white wire goes to the ignition switch.

Where do I find the ballast wire in the harness? Or where does the wire exactly go along the harness? I dont want to completely destroy everything just to find it. I need a direction.

[8D] WELCOME TO THE BEST TR7 / 8 FORUM IN THE WORLD EVER [:D]

The ballast wire you are looking for is in the footwell on the side your fuse box is, the pictures are of my late DHC but at a guess they didn't move it around it too much. It does help that the wire has ' RESITANCE ' written on it.

The problem is, they did move around. Believe me, I read all the posts about it on here. I do not have a wire labeled ballast resistor.

The other option is if you cant locate then poss. run another wire in and use an external ballast resistor, I have done this on several cars in the past.





I assume you have lost your ignition ( non cranking ) at coil ? Or are fitting electronic ignition and don't need 9 volts ?
