Hi All,

After asking about cleaning old plastic interior trim, Id's decided to go ahead and paint the trim I have the colour I want, but then I thought about the centre console with the heater controls.

That console has labels on it for the heater instructions, but I've never seen these for sale in sticker/decal form.

Masking them off seems like it would be the worlds most painful exercise in the practice and I doubt it could be done and produce satisfactory results.

If you've painted your centre console, how have you kept the labels in place?

before painting , you should bring the part to your local pinstripe/commerical sign and lettering guy. They could probably knock something off in vynil graphic for next to nothing [;)]

You can probably tell from all the questions that this is the first car I've ever restored a car, but like they say "there's a first time for everything"

Hi guys.
On another forum, I read that some of the model train guys discussing making water transfer decals, like the old Airfix kits. Scout around the web & you should be able to find the blank waterslide transfer paper that you can print on with a colour laser or maybe inkjet. I haven't investigated yet myself so I can't advise with conviction, but I guess you could take a photo of the original markings and use photoshop or similar to either tidy up the image or create from scratch with a publishing program.
You could get very professional looking results.

Hang on a minute lads. I've got a great idea!

If you use transfers, you need to apply a few coats of suitable varnish over the whole area to stop them rubbing off the first time you fumble for the controls in the dark.
