4-Speed question

I am looking at various gearlever options for the '76 FHC and need a measurement.
Can someone supply me with the distance between front of bell housing and the centre of the gear selector hole of a TR7 4-speed 'box?

On the Spitfire it's 450mm between the front side of the gearbox and the centre of the gear selector hole. It's basically the same gearbox.

Hi Beans,

STANDARD four speed with bell housing attached going from front of bell housing, where it would face against the adaptor plate on rear of block, to the centre of the gear lever hole 25" or approx 635 mm in new money.

As I mentioned in my blog the O/D box is poss. slightly shorter to the same position, but only by approx. 1/4" .

Thx for the info.
So with the Sprint O/D Sprint 'box the gearlever sits only 5 mmm further to the front (measurement approx. 630 mm).
That shouldn't be a problem, so time to go looking for some early TR7 and GT6 gearlevers.

Good news mate. O/D gear sticks come up on Ebay from time to time, Canley Classics have remanufactured them but not cheap
