looking to get Air Cleaner Assembly powder coated

I got a spare Air Cleaner Assembly on Ebay and I intend getting it grit blasted and powder coated in gloss black. Should I mask of the sensor first? Are there any other precautions I need to take?

You pretty much have to completely "gut" the air cleaner first
though I am nor familiar with the 7 version
Here is the work I did on the 8's

With any grit blasting I would dismantle any bits that will come off plus with powder coating it will go into an oven so that heat will effect sensitive parts.

A cheaper & easier opion would be to chemically remove the paint / rust then prime & top coat with spray Black gloss.

Would say powder coating is good for suspension parts / subframes road springs etc where protection is required - the air box doesn't get effected by road salt etc.

Powdercoating will have to watch the metal clips to secure the 2 halves as they may stick up with paint being thickish.

Best maybe to speak to the company who will powdercoat it first.

Powder coating would be a waste of money unless you were doing it yourself for fun/experience. The advantage of powder coating is it's resistance to chipping like suspension parts that are in the way of sand/rocks etc that are met on the road. In the protected environs of the engine bay you'd be better off the spray paint it with something like caliper paint (heat and wear resistant).
