Press Car TR7 - JRW 581V

Postby tr4me » 16 Sep 2013 22:34

Hi and thanks everyone for the feedback. any information on 581V would be very welcome. The car has been resprayed Leyland white which is the original colour. I am a forum novice and and even worse on the internet so will post pictures when I can get my son to show me how. Yes KHP is a red automatic TR8.
Chris,I will get one to Billing next year after this years failure to get a car there.
Cheers Rob

Hi Rob,

If JRW 581V turn's out as good KHP then she will be a cracker :D Remenber now when I saw you at Woburn earlier this year you did mention a press car, bl88dy memory or lack of it !

Not many local show's left now but if you are at any Lea Valley TR Reg meets then will bring along that Press Insight folder so you can flick through it, plus a photo copy of the page shown on this thread.

Press Car TR7 - JRW 588V

Postby TR Tony » 26 Apr 2014 09:57

I see that a DHC has appeared on Ebay described as "First Pre Production Model". It is JRW 588V so presumably one of the 22 press cars for the UK launch, not literally the First Pre Production Model but still an interesting early RHD DHC.

Looks in very nice condition, seller says restored about 10 years ago, although it now sports a bodykit. Ebay item 221425420326.

Looks nice, but for a 'historic' vehicle it should have the standard wheels put back on, and the colour-coded bumpers replaced. IMHO

A good point, but if you're going to modify, do it tastefully like this.
Besides I like those alloys. :D 8)

Dhc launch photos

Postby alc59 » 15 Mar 2015 05:22

Links for various photos from the March 1980 convertible launch, including one with thirteen of the press fleet. I also have copies of the press releases and some road tests if anyone is interested. These all come from Stuart Birch, the motoring journalist, who sold me his Grinnall TR8 three years ago.

Hi Al,

Yeah that works. I hope you don't mind me posting this one :)

I believe that the launch was at Woburn Abbey just up the road from me and that shot certainly looks like its in the grounds, first time I personally seen a picture from the actual launch, thanks for sharing.

Nice picture of the finite element analysis. IIRC, the TR7 was the first car to have it applied.
