Sure, currently I have close to 3 litres [2.67L is the norm] of 'GM Liquid gold' in it, simply because
that's what I've used in the LT77 for years...

Later I've learnt that the factory used Texaco MTF94 in the R380, but as we all know the Leyland
Transmissions factory have been proven wrong before... [:D] I was told by a friend in the MG club
that the consensus regarding oil for the MGRV8 R380 is Castrol SMX-S...

Hi Odd,
Thread size is 10mm X 1.5, which is the most common size metric 10mm.
On the subject of oil i was a dedicated MGR Tech and always filled these R380 with Unipart (probaly made by Texaco!) MTF 94.
Cheers John.

Don't, take Odd's advice and go for Castrol SMX-S...

From what I hear then, my car may be a 1980 one, but at some point the leaver must of been swopped with a smaller earlier version. Steve has helped me out with this one so all should be OK. That is until I do something else on her and find that fix something else lol. But that is why I love my TR so much.[:D][:D]

If your car is indeed an '80 it should be well below VIN 403723 (made in March 1981)
- so small diameter gear lever is correct for it.
