Well, I hadnt thought about it. I planned on using a set of pancakes, but do not currently have any. If the origional housing will fit, I will use it for a while. Good pancakes will cost me over $100. I also thought about running an intake directly down in front of the radiator, sort of a ram air type thing.

Wot SU carbs are they? Are they original? I'm thinking about geting a set of webber carbs Whats the performance difference with them? Nice job, I like the rocker cover. Very clean. Did you do a complete engine rebuild?

They are off a TR4A, so I think they are HS6s. No idea on the HP but I have been told they compare to the downdraft Webbers or better. The head was rebuilt before I got it, and I put new bearings and rings in the bottom end, and new timing chain and guides and tensioner. The SUs were not rebuilt, but seem to run great. There is a manual choke, but I doubt I will ever need it. It was in the 50s today, and it fired right up. Since I dont intend to put a top on the car I doubt I will be driving it in temps any lower.

SUs are a far better bet - and no reason why they should 'go out of tune'. You could polish the 'bells' up a bit to go with the rest of that nice looking engine!! The standard air box is fine - consider fitting a single big filter at the inlet to the air box.

Have you hooked up the vacuum line to the brakes yet? I can see the one-way valve setting on the windshield ledge. That will help the way the engine runs.

The vacuum line is hooked up, but I haven't put that valve back in yet. The origional booster had a vacuum leak, so I had to use one I had sitting on a shelf.

I have to rebuild the rear brakes next, then we can drive it safely. Right now I am using the parking brake.
