Exhaust manifold

Here’s where to discuss anything specific about your standard(ish) car or something that applies to the model in general.

Well the same garage had another look for me, after you guys and Rob Sport said it is possible to drill the sheared bolt out. They agree now, but we still have the lower rear bolt to remove and I tried that as hard as I wanted too. Garage chap will let me know about him drilling out.

Anyway, as a bit of research one area on the manifold/cyl head that I know leaks, I rubbed in some std. exhaust past and left over night. In the morning I could not believe how much quieter and smoother to drive. I know this is only a temp fix but at least I know whether most of the leak is.I have also now discoverd the product I could use as a less temp repair, as per my earlier posting, its called Thermosteel, a one part type epoxy solution, resists up to 1300 deg C, so might try.

Made some progress, the remaining bolts to the exhaust manifold
to head, one sheared and one not budging now sorted.

Decided that someone more capable than me, plus better access via car lift (main reason) should have a go, so took it along to local MG specialist who sorted it.

They couldn't get the last bolt out either, so sheared it and heated them both up and they came out, well pleased. New bolts and gaskets in place, sadly the manifold to exhaust still leaks, but will play around with that myself and, in time replace it with 4 branch manifold.

Priority now the front suspension as per other post. The MG guy says there either isn't enough travel or the wrong coils where fitted by PO.

Well it turns out that Pacecetter no longer do the gaskets, so if any one knows of a comparable increased spec over std one, please let me know.
Cheers
