Fuel tank breather hose

Postby Rich K » 23 Apr 2023 11:42

Hi, can anyone tell me the bore diameter of the fuel tank breather hose? About to fit the new tank to the gold convertible and wanting to replace the breather as a matter of course.
Thanks.

Surely with the tank out of the car it shouldn't be too difficult to measure the breather tube?

You are correct Beans but I don’t have the tank to hand at the moment as it is with the car elsewhere. I am currently ordering parts for the next batch of work before going back over to where it is located.

Hi Rich,
i have just measured the diameter of the breather tube from my spareparts Fuel tank.
It is 8.2mm.
The diameter of the filling tube is 51mm.

Greetings

Hi Roger, thanks for the info. Could you measure the internal diameter of the breather pipe as well? Thanks.

Hi Rich,

the inner diameter is 5.8mm due to the paint,
The tube is 40mm long as the filler tube also.
I have two Fuel tanks at home, one aftermarket
an one Original and made a comparison to be secure.
The metal of the filler tube on the Original is 1mm thick
as the breather also.
The metal on the aftermarket filler tube is 1.5mm thick and the
breather tube is only 17mm long and closer to the filler tube.
The Quality of the aftermarket Fuel tank is not the good.
Do you repair your Fuel tank?

Greetings

Breather outer diameter is just shy of 8mm on an original tank
So a stock 8mm fuel hose will get you sorted

Thanks Roger. Tank now fitted. It was a new tank but I have also coated the inside with POR15 Tank sealer to provide the maximum protection against corrosion.
