New disks, pads and bearings-now they squeal

I just had my rotors, pads and bearings replaced on my 1980 TR7. Now there is a huge squeal upon braking that started about 5 miles after repair. My mechanic de-glazed the new rotors and pads, and 7 miles later it was back. I think the passenger side only. these were semi-meatalic pads. the only type I could find. I need this squeal to go away...Any ideas?

IF they are cheap pads then more often than not they will squeal and often expensive competition pads will be noisy also. Did you bed them in gently ? Have the anti rattle clips etc been fitted correctly, I always treat all metal contact surfaces with Copper Slip or similar, was this done ?

My new pads also squealed. Assemble with copper grease on the shims, consider new shims if the originals are in poor condition. I deglazed the pads twice and they did settle down after a few hundred miles.

I use a red anti squeal brake silicone for metal to metal surfaces. Chamfer the leading and trailing edges (corners) of the pads 45 degrees with sandpaper or grinder. Although my brakes didn't squeal before they did after I changed pads. Now they only squeal a bit when braking in reverse. A lot has to do with the composition of the pads.

There is a superb article by Michael Grant on the Moss Technical Web Site. Its titled subject is brake judder after fitting new pads & discs (rotors) but it has a detailed procedure for bedding new pads and discs.

Greenstuff pads work great but mine made some weird noises as they bedded in.

IIRC they come with some sticky black plastic / vinyl to place on the back of them instead of the usual shims. I was close to replacing them but then they went quiet

Whilst I am aware of the procedure for bedding in brakes I can't see how anyone could carry this out unless they have access to a disused airfield, racetrack or similar! supercass
