sticking ignition key, what gives?

getting the ignition key to turn the last click to the "removal" position has been difficult since i got the car...a whole week ago...but yesterday it took 10 minutes of fiddling to get it to come out at all. the pad on my right thumb is a little bruised from the exercise. i tried pushing it in, but there really isn't any sensation that it pushes in. i hit it with graphite powder last weekend and yesterday i hit it with penetrating oil to get it loose. i am afraid that it eventually just isn't going to come loose at all. the parts suppliers i use most for MG parts both have Triumph as well and both carry the switch and pigtail, but not the lock cylinder. any ideas about this? is the problem in the switch and i just need to get a new one or is it the lock cylinder and so what do i do? thanks.

Just an off chance, try wiggling the steering wheel when you attempt to remove the key. If the steering lock is on it may possibly be difficult, usually to move the key to the start position. supercass

The ignition keys in Oz 7s will not turn to the removal position from the off position. You have to turn the key to the on, engine run position. At this position it will push in further, allowing it to pass the lock to the removal position.

Hasbeen, Eureka! thats it. i had tried pushing the key in, to no avail, but didn't realize that i needed to try it from the "on" position, as opposed to the "off" position. quirky. so, i went out and tried it and this mystery has now been solved. thanks, man.
