Wiper Park Switch

Postby saabfast » 06 Sep 2015 13:07

My screen wipers have never parked properly (or at all). After 9 years I have got around to buying a new park switch like this:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/181408151329? ... EBIDX%3AIT

However, it is different to the existing one with a plunger operation and a clip instead of screws for fixing. Has any one fitted one of these, will it work?

The manual talks about removing the complete rack assembly to take the motor out for access. Is it possible to remove the motor leaving the rack etc in situ?

I suspect that it is the wrong one.WhenI repaired mine it seemed that the tr7 motor was unique to the TR and Stag. You can remove the motor leaving the rack in but part of the park switch is attached to the rack if I recall correctly and engages in a slot in the park switch.Of course I could be wrong as I think it would be possible to change out the motor for a different but similar easily available one.Good luck,Steve.

Not sure how you'd adjust it with out the mounting screw. I had taken the steering rack out to clean and grease the rack/boxes etc. When it went back in it wouldn't park. I was able to loosen the adjust screw, move the switch a little in one direction with out removing the rack, just taking off the motor mounting I could move it enough to gain access to the switch mounting screw. I moved it in the right direction (50/50 chance of being right) and it's parked right ever since.

OK thanks, will try and look at that.

I have corresponded with the vendor who is taking it up with his supplier so will be interesting to see what they have to say.

In the mean time, if you have removed the original switch, with a sharp knife you can remove the 'lid' (which is glued down) and clean the copper contacts. It worked for me.
