Heater Light/Lens Cover

Postby Spike » 26 Jul 2015 18:24

I need to remove my centre console, and I'm struggling at the first step. I'm trying to remove the heater light/lens cover and I just cannot seem to get a screw driver on to either of the two screws that hold it in.

Am I just cack handed, are there any tips on getting these screws out?

Keep going Graham!

The screws are at an odd angle and once not the easiest to feel, once you have done one it's easy!

Those two are really awkward for some reason, like Ian says they are at an odd angle, not what you would expect. They don't need to come right out to get the cover off, just slacken them a couple of turns and it slides off. You can see they are still in place on Roger's picture.

Thanks all, this has really helps - 5 minutes and it was off, a picture does paint a thousand words.

Need to replace a couple of the bulbs, wonder if you can get these as LEDs?

Next step is whip the console out and sort out the ventilation controls, never stops sometimes.

cheers

Rimmer bros TR7 website is a useful resource for those of us who don't have a TR7 parts book. They lifted the drawings for their website straight from it.

Hi Adam,

The pictures from the service manual helps but for some reason (my incompetence) I just couldn't manage it. Couple minutes after seeing Roger's picture got hold of the screw and had the lens cover off.

I'd recommend everybody to get a copy of the service manual, you can download a copy from http://vitessesteve.co.uk/Servicemanuals.htm. He also sells them plus a few other bits on ebay (or used to).

I always forget how they go and can never get them loose. I find a mechanics mirror helps me riddle it out.
