Here’s where to discuss anything specific about your standard(ish) car or something that applies to the model in general.

wiring three prong oil pressure sender

Postby motomadness1947 » 23 Jan 2015 19:14

I just installed a new NAPA echlin OP6610 sender on my TR7 the prongs are marked I P and S can anyone tell me which wire goes to which prong. My shop manual shows that the 1980 California FI engine had only a single prong. But I do not think that is correct. Is it?

You have the sender for a carbed TR8. The fuel pump on the carb version is controlled by the starter and the pressure sensor. The fuel injected model only has one connector as the fuel pump is control by the dual relay and the AFM. They don't interchange.

I marked the wire that come off the single prong sender. I found hanging near by two other wires that had been jumped . i assumed (you know what that means) that they also went to the sender in the other two positions. I guess I will put the jumper back in place and put he old sender on.
