Here’s where to discuss anything specific about your standard(ish) car or something that applies to the model in general.

Hi Scott,

Fitting the VS V8 unit was actually one of the few jobs on my car not done by myself but by a brakes specialist. If memory serves me correctly (this was done about fifteen years ago) it was a straight fit which was why he selected that unit.

The unit from another angle:

Craig, would you be so kind as to give us the part # for the master cylinder and the servo unit? It would be most appreciated.

It would help the U.S. folks to find it on the local auto parts stores back shelves.

Thanks Craig.
I must investigate further.

Ok,

The perils of not doing the work yourself and believing that person:

At Mildred's request I spent a couple of hours researching the master cylinder part number. Only to find it is NOT from a VS Commodore...

It is in fact a PBR 15/16" unit from a VB-VK Commodore (1978-86) and is part PBR part no P10220.

Stay tuned for an update on the servo.

The brake servo (booster) would appear to be a PBR VH512 model. This is a steel double diaphragm unit from a VK-VR Commodore.

That's what I was thinking. Mind you the manufacturers would tend to use common parts from the parts bin. Some rummaging around the auto wreckers might find an answer or at least something else that might work (if you had lots of spare time).

If I get a chance this week, Im going up to the junkyard and see if any master cylinders line up close. Also I think Im going to call and order the master cylinder from an 80 MGB from auto zone and return it if it doesnt fit.
