Air Cleaner Hose Connections

Our winter project was to install a new water pump as we began to experience the dreaded leak from the slot in the block. It took a few iterations, but I'm pleased to report that the new pump is in and everything seems to be tight with no leaks or drips.

I'm now putting things back into place including the air cleaner box; however, my son took this off over the winter and I can't recall where the two small hoses that come off the back of the filter box go. I recall seeing a diagram before; but I've done a search and can't seem to find it. [?]

Any help would be greatly appreciated. [:D]

Yes, this is easy. The short hose from the vacuum port on the intake manifold attaches to the inside spigot of the temperature sensor. Which is to say the spigot closest to the air cleaner. The outer spigot on the sensor connects the long hose to the vacuum door on the outer half of the air cleaner.

Of course, the big and long hose connects to the big spigot on the air cleaner box and the spigot on the heat shield on the exhaust manifold.

This is all dependent on the sensor functioning properly. If it is broke, the flap door will stay closed all the time reducing your gas mileage thru an over rich mixture. At this time of year it is common here in the community for the vacuum spigot at the intake manifold to be blocked off for the season. If you start off the day with the windows rolled down, the air to the carburetors is already warm enough for efficient combustion.
