Engine bay wiring plug.

Here’s where to discuss anything specific about your standard(ish) car or something that applies to the model in general.

Engine bay wiring plug.

Postby Dave Dyer » 16 Jan 2014 14:56

Hi,

Theres a 7 pin (I think its 7 pin) electrical plug that entres the engine bay near the gearbox, does anyone know what the wires are? as in what the feed.
I'm planning to fit a v8 to my next project, once I've finished the one I'm doing, which will be soon!

Thanks,
Dave

My automatic transmission 1977 TR7 has a multi pin connector there for the starter interlock switch on the auto trans. Not sure if it is 7 pin or not.

I'm guessing it's the feed for the reverse light switch, auto trans inhibit (manuals have the wiring not the switch) parking brake switch.

The only one with that many wires I can think of is the engine harness, on mine it goes through a grommit it the trans tunnel and the connector is inside the car.

When I converted mine I bought a second engine harness and a couple of metres of each of cable in the right colours, I then made a new engine harness sorting out neat routings and clips etc on the engine / gearbox.

Hi Kstrutt1, Yes thats the sort of thing I want to do.

I think all the wires lead to engine related items, I was just hoping someone might have a list of the pin numbers, wire colours and where it leads. I'll probably have to try and work it out from the wiring diagram, but hopefully that will be a last resort..lol
