Ohhh, our friend must be a southpaw. Being a right hander, I've never had the pleasure of using the Master Brake Cylinder as a resting spot. My right paw is always doing the fix-it thing while my left paw is trying to hold the light and my third hand is pushing the part in place. Then my forth and fifth hands take photos of it all as my sixth hand is holding my spectacles from falling off my nose.

Hay Mildred you missed the other hand, the one with the tissue in it.

What about:-
Correct 5 speed gearbox fluid.
Not towing 5 speed car unless you remove the prop shaft.
Removing dashboard screws on windscreen side.
Have you ever tried changing the sump gasket on an 8?[?]

Yes Sautie, been there done that & got the T shirt.

When the sump on the 8 was sitting on the steering rack, after a little engine mount sag, the big end of No 1 conrod was just tapping the sump when the engine was cold. We had to pull the sump & panel beat the sump.

It was rather a bit fiddly I will admit.

Never had issues with any of those things listed above(mostly because I've never had those issues). Two worst things for me was replacing the clutch and removing the heater to replace the crumbled foam.

Just pulled both heads off of my Stag v8; could not have done it without the "head honcho". Plan to use the grade 8 bolt fasteners upon reassy.

another fun job on the 7 is the steering column bushing at the firewall.
