trying to add the intermittent wipe box to a none intermittent wipe car 1980 V 1981 car all looks the same but obviously isn't, as when connected in line wipers only work an fast

i'm back on this one again having failed to get this to work. i've changed the male and female connectors to match the unit but the wiring or combination to the sockets must be different but as yet i can't see where any help here would be appreciated, as although not essential it's a nice to have and it's doing my head in, trying to work it out...
and yep i've looked at the Tr8 website link but i'm confused

okie dokie then ODD give me a idiots guide cus i've read all the words scoured the wiring diagrams crawled under a car with it and still no Joy.. probably one misplaced wire i reckon..

Hi John,
Off to a show today, but can check voltages and earths,wiring colours ect on mine when i get home or tomorrow if that would help. I remember installing this on Metro's and Maestro's ect that used the same looking control box but variable speed, and they left one wire out of the loom between two connectors.

Windshield wiper interval
Not to everybody is known that the last models of the TR7 / had 8 an interval function of the windshield wiper. The suitable tax part (Teile-Nr. AAU7087) is screwed on in the across brace under the dashboard, on the left from the steering column.

This part is often favorable again at quite a lot of English market to agree. The present price, e.g., with RIMMER Bros. lies with luxuriant £ 21.50. But to whom it is the value, rebuilding no problem!
Moreover the Steckverbindung of the cable harness is "simply solved and the plugs are exchanged mutually. Where before "little men" were now "females" and have turned back.

What remains yet, the tax part is to be fastened and to put on the plug ends on the same, and after approx. 2 hrs of work an older model also has this comfort, the windshield wiper lever down typed = interval switch on, once more typed = switch off interval!

Funny how things dont translate or get lost on a computer program [:D]

and apart from that nothing out of the ordinary comes to mind. I double, and triple!, checked the wire colours/positions
in the connectors compared to the text in the ROM and the text slip that came with the box.
I think there was something with the number of wires connected that was strange... Go check the texts written on the subject
by Gene at the WedgeLab, he might have something useful there...

By intermittent, are you referring to timed intervals, where the wiper will wipe intermittently without any driver input, and you can adjust the length of the interval between wipes? If that conversion is available, it would be handy to have. My car already has the "one-wipe" feature.

to the very late Tr7/8's there was an intermittent box fitted in line with the wiper controls, it was set to an interval you could not adjust it however i've found it useful on my later car.

A quick look at the wiring on a 1980 car and it looks simular except for the connectors which are opposite ie male female etc.

so i have attempted to retro fit this control but alas to no avail so far although it should be possible, i just can't see the wood for the trees at the mo, wiring or a wire must be different. various web site say it is possible but i need an idiots guide to do this and none are that detailed..

My wipers work intermittantly, but I suspect that is not what you really are trying to do.

Anybody tried something like this?

I have one of the J. C. Whitney units in my 1965 Chevy Pick Up. It's OK but not the best in the world. The factory unit in the Stag is much better.

It has lasted as it has been in the truck for at least 10 years now.
