JClay does have a wiring schematic for TR8's on his site and I think it should be the same for that area on a TR7 (don't know if you have a 7 or

.

I am constantly printing this out (once I handle it much in the garage with dirty hands it gets unreadable fast and I need a new copy).
Good luck,
Rob

High beam, low beam or both? What are you going to connect to this wire?
OK, no matter what you are doing, I would advise you run it through a relay. You can put one on the new line that triggers the relay and then hook a new wire from the battery to power whatever you are adding. I advise this because our cars don't have the strongest wiring and fuses.
On when both lights are on. The blue wire from the light switch to the column HBFHL (Horn, blinker, Flash, High, Low) Switch.
High Beams Only: The Blue/White coming from the HBFHL Switch.
Low Beams Only: The Blue/Red coming from the HBFHL Switch.

Thanks JClay, got your email. I think I understand the above...but just in case....
I have some led digital gauges that the PO put in. I am not all that thrilled to have them, as I kind of like the original factory purist look, but you have to go with what you got. I found some replacement gauges that are better looking (once again, for what they are). Like I said, they are led and kind of bright, so a purple wire on the back of the gauge is provided so when the headlights come on, the gauge dims.

Would I be correct in assuming I can connect the purple gauge wire to the blue headlight switch wire to accomplish this? (before I butcher this up)[:(]

NO!
You want the Red/White wire that comes off the Panel Rheostat on the heater control panel. There is also a Red/White connected to the base of the cigarette light to work the light attached there.
Do you need a set of original gauges?

Ok, I will have to look, but I am not sure the rheostat and lighter wires are still there because that is where the gauges are installed. It still has all the original gauges (including an actual working clock!), these were just added on for some reason. The only reason I dont scrap the whole thing is the console for the radio was carved up to make these fit. Sounds horrible, does not look THAT bad (I will post a picture when it is completed). Maybe one of these days I will fall off the wallet and get a new console and radio and go back to the original look. Thanks for the advice, will give it a go this weekend.

Done! what a birds nest of homemade wiring I encountered. The PO had really done a bizarre (although working[:D]) wire job behind the dash!!
Got things all shored up and can proceed. Thanks!!
