MOT Time

Don't post much but just thought I would pass on my good news. I bought my TR7 last July (own 1 and half for the last 12 years) it was pretty solid (actualy looks better underneath than above) anyway it was mot time so rather than try and fix everything I thought was wrong I just chucked it in for the MOT (very picky MOT station). It passed first time (well adjust the emissions and change a rear bulb (told you I just chucked it in)). So well happy!!!!! as it cost me not a lot just £50 for a 29 year old car to pass the MOT. There were advisories but thes only related to the sterring rack.


WHoooooooPEEE can spend more time driving my dream (and the car lol!!)

Wot! As a TR7 owner I'm embarrassed to be surprised by that news but good for you.

My mechanic showed me my steering column today. Bent in 2 places so I bet that's a fail.

Glad to hear that your's got through OK. Like you I was very happy when mine passed for the second year without even a single advisory, which really p*****d off my colleague since his wife's modern Sabb had just failed its MOT.

Sent in my Yellow TR7 Sprint in last saturday and the car failed on two minor faults o/s Bottom Balljoint and o/s front Wheel bearing not upset at all, did tell the MOT man to give it a really good check. This car as not been on the road since 1986, loads of work needed but nearly there now.

I had an 'advisory' last year for the steering universal joint - but there is not a thing wrong with it!! Absolutely no 'play' that I can detect. I've oiled it well - and rubbed oil into the surfaces - so hoping they think it's a new one this year! Trouble with going back to the same place each year - they hold the previous details in their computer!

You poor guys. Here, no MOT, no safety check, no air care, just a set of pictures every five years to make sure everything is stock and no splits in the seats or torn carpets for continuation of collector plates. [:)][:D][:D][8D][8D]

I have failed[V].I need new steering joints,new front subframe and some other stuff.I am not giving up I will get this car back to health.Doctor 5ltrs of waxoil..... stat[:D]

Bad luck! A new subframe sounds ominous but if you lived in Canada you wouldn't know you needed a new one until your motor fell out onto the road. [:0]

My original front subframe was so bad I was one bump away from dropping my engine on the road[:0].It was more weld than frame from yrs of patching.I had no idea so the MOT is good for something. At least when the jobs are done my car will be fit for another 20 yrs.
Hey if i lived in canada I would be very happy[^] The UK is F******d. I wonder if I can run for parliment and then put my TR7 running costs on my expenses ?[:p].
