OIL LEAK FROM TIMING CHAIN COVER

Hi Guys,
I have found an annoying oil leak from the oil seal on the timimg chain cover. The leak is via the oil seal around the crankshaft.
My question is how difficult is this to replace?
If anyone has done this in the past i would like to hear and receive any pointers/advice.

I am about to replace one on an engine I am installing in my DHC. Just ordered the parts today from Vic-Brit. The engine is out of the car, which will make it easier for me. I can report back on my installation when Im done, but engine-in car replacement may be a bit harder than what Im going to go thru.

Quite normal for these engines to leak there. Usually caused by a worn seal or the seal wearing into the surface of the pulley.
Seal is pretty easy and cheap to replace even with the engine in the car. As long as you have a decent 1½†(38mm) spanner or socket to remove the bolt holding the pulley in place.

HI GUYS,
THANKS FOR THE RESPONSE, WHAT COULD CAUSE THE PROBLEM? I AM WORRIED THAT YOU SAY IT COULD BE SERIOUS
JUST A BIT MORE INFO I HAVE RECENTLY UNDERTAKEN THE HEAD GASKET REPLACEMENT, FOLLOWING THIS HAD IT SERVICED AND THEN FOLLOWING ADVICE HAD IT TUNED ON A ROLLING ROAD, NO BAD REPORTS AT THIS POINT.
FINALLY I AM AWARE THAT THE TIMING CHAIN COVER WAS REMOVED DURING THE HEAD GASKET REPLACEMENT.
AWAIT ANY FURTHER COMMENTS

Im sure your ok. Its pretty common for oil seal to shrik up &/or deteriorate. Like rocker cover gaskets, they dont last forever. Ordered my new one and will report back after I recieve it/ install it.

HI I HAVE CHANGED THE OIL SEAL BUT UNFORTUNATLY I STILL HAVE THE LEAK, BUT NOT SO BAD.
THE PULLEY ON INSPECTION LOOKS SCORED. DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT THE OD OF THE PULLEY SHOULD BE? I WOULD LIKE TO CHECK.
CAN SOME ALSO TELL ME WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THE OIL SLINGER? AS I THINK THIS IS MISSING, COULD THIS ADD TO THE LEAK PROBLEM?
