Hi guys, just wondered as i often do, if anyone had any clear inside shots of there 7, behind the seats area, the reson im asking is when i was at Stonleigh last week i noticeed inside one of the show convertibles they had either side of the seats, what looked like seat belt holders, which mine didnt have and also at the top of either seat 2 black what looked like something the seat belts went through again mine didny have them, sorry if i cant explain it more clearly but i hadnt seen them before and wasnt sure of there correct titling, ohh and one final question the seat belt type straps attached the the hood i have no idea where they slot into, any hel at all with this would be a very big help.
Cheers all

Steve, I think it was the later cars that had a plastic clip down on the inner sill which was indeed to hold the seatbelt catch, to kind of keep it tidy when not in use. Your pre-prod car may not have had these?
The production DHCs had an L shaped metal guide mounted as part of the seatbelt assembly for the seat belt to run through. These weren't needed on FHC cars as the belts ran through a guide in the trim. I think (although not 100% sure) that these DHC guides were handed left & right to slightly angle the seat belt towards the wearer.
I am sure one of the specialists could help you with these parts.

Steve...
I doubt you'll find the holes again to
re-use through the carpet, although taking
it up will reveal if there were any
fitted at some time. I think a couple of
short self-tappers into new holes should
be enough to hold the retaining clip - but
I stand corrected if anyone knows better!

Hi Maxwell, to tell you the truth when i first took the carpet out to check the floor etc i never thought of looking, as i never knew there was seat belt tidies if thats what they are called, untill i went tto Stoneliegh last sunda and saw a convertible with them fitted, but like Tony said they may or may not have fitted them to mine, it wouldnt take alot to ft them if i did decide to put them on, i managed to get hold of a couple of used ones ( thanks Mac), and because i haven yet refitted the carpet as of yet( well its in place but not glued yet i will have a check just to see if there is in fact a couple of pre drilled holes for them.

Pup the plastic cover that is by the side of youre seat, what is its proper name? the reason im asking is that mine never came with that,it may well have had one on the car at some point and perhaps a previous owner took it off and it never got replaced.

Steve
I think the plastic cover to which you refer
is WKC3295 \ WKC3296 [Cover:Hood Frame Hinge]
shown on Page 121 of the excellent Rimmer Bros

If you buy second hand just make sure you ask the question "are all the screw mounting holes intact?"
That is the weak point - from memory there are 3 screw holes & very often one or more will be damaged or broken!

Cheers Tony, i was just sat thinking the same, thats the prob with second hand plastic, similar to the centrre consol box, the weak point on them is where they are screwed into the car itself, once over tightned they weaken with movenent, with mine i used strong ispon once dried and, sanded and sprayed you could never tel and it made it stronger too, so daft ideas eh!
