Just putting the doors back together and notice that neither winder cranks very well. One winder even has teeth which are almost worn away. The winders look identical other than the bend teeth. Can they be switched from side to side in order to use the good section of the winding teeth?

One trick I have done before is to reflatten the pointed teeth and then work some grease back and too into the mechanism.

You will find that the winder then will not slip and work again. At the same time you are work hardening the teeth abit.

YES - they can be swapped side to side, and you get brand new teeth! A trick I realised after buying two new winders ('regulators') and they sent me two for the same side - and said to 'just use them'. Snag is - there is nothing to stop the window going too far down and falling off the end of the rack. So - good idea to bend over the last couple of teeth - or fit some kind of stop at end of the rack teeth.

Thanks for the information guys. From planying with hte winders yesterday there just didn't seem to be areason that it couldn't be swapped. And the bent teeth for a stop didn't work very well on one of mine; it cranks too far as it is. Swapping is a good thing, it will save my son a few dollars.
