We know that BL raided the parts bin quite often but did this ever exist? A 1979 Dhc with black dash and red tartan interior? Discription says original interior.

Yes indeed, the chassis number in the listing indicates a car from the first batch of 1979 model year North American market DHCs, sometime between Jan & June 1979. As the red check interior ran until 79 quite possible that it was used.

And of course there it is in the brochure that Ruddy shows us - in fact that could be the same car! Apart from the replacement steering wheel of course.

Got one in my drive right now. Seats have been recovered, but the door cards are a perfect match. A 1979 DHC.

I have a 1979 DHC with black dash and red tartan interior as well. The body was originally green, red now.

I like the black dash better than the grey one I have in mine. However I don't like the red tartan interior, heck I don't like the blue tartan interior in mine. That will be one area I will change during the resto of the car. Even though I am not fond of the red interior I can't find too much fault with a TR7 that has the steering wheel in the proper place.

I do like the colour combo. Did any of the UK Dhc's get any of the original tartans?

Not a problem at all finding one. There are Left Hand Drive TR7's for sale all the time[:D]

I am actually attempting that color sceme in my latest 7. Already bought the red carpet to replace the worn out tan. Dash is black as from the factory, now just waiting on black w/red chek door panels. The rest of interior pieces I should have lying around my shop (in black). Ill post pic's when Im all done, probly like a month or two

I have put many miles on a RHD car in the US. Once the novelty wore off, it was not very much fun, particularly in traffic. Then again, the car was a Motorsport Elise (with the Exige-ish bodywork so no rear window), so it was impossible to see out of the back of it anyway ...

The proper place for the steering wheel is the whatever side that most people in the country that you are driving in use.

-infact, had my `78's red check interior(seats) had been in better shape, I would have swapped it over to my dhc in no time!!!

..I'm still looking for green check interior(seats) and carpet .. does somone know nice ones??.. it is not original at a 79 White CA dhc but I like it [:p]

I have green check seats I want to recover.There is a fag burn in the drivers seat base.otherwise they are good.You can have the covers for the cost of postage as and when i get my seats recoverd in cream.It may be a month or two to wait though.I have the electrics to fix,find the interior I want,and pass the mot first.PM me and I will mail you when the covers are available.
