Cover Off

Postby RUDDY » 02 Mar 2009 10:29

Took the cover off for the first time since about September, took the battery conditioner off and cranked it over, fired into life after a few turns and settled into a nice tick over, let it warm through with the heaters on. Might give it a full valet this week....even tho' it got one before it got put away. Think I will tax it from the start of next month.

cheers, Paul

Hopefully spring is on it's way although we have single digit wind chills here this AM.
Mine's in the shop now as paying work has slowed. I really need to get going on my winter projects before winter is over![:0]

What a bunch of tarts that didnt use their cars during the winter months,[;)], the dhc has a good enough heater[:D] I only didnt use mine during the snow because i fell over like some old granny and smashed my leg up (again!) The 7 is my only car other than for work (although the wife has her own) so it is in use all the time.

nervousnewowner the nice MOT man has now given you a list of exactly what your car needs, do that and you have a ticket. Simples! Its always better working to a fail list than having spent lots of time and money trying to get it ready for a mot and thaen to have it fail anyway.

yeah but the annoying part is i was working to a fail sheet, i bought the car and took it straight to a local mot station to me to mot and to give me a fail list, unfortunately had to store the car at my sisters unit 20 odd miles away and been working on it over there and took it to a different mot station, who gave me a whole new list of fails..... in a bad way if had taken car to original mot station would of had a ticket on it now..... for the new mot showed up a lot of issues i find shocking the other guy missed, but is the difference in taking car somewhere used to older cars and to one thats not....the work will be done, difference is where i thought i would have a few minor points to address and get retest done in the ten days free period, will no doubt mean me having to shell out on another test fee.... my main problem i dont have a garage and in two weeks am losing my current car storage too, the guy in the garage was adamant you cant have and work on an old car without a garage, which i find insulting, had a few arguements with some "classic" car insurers on same subject, they told me unless i had my car garaged it would not be classed as a classic...... i've always worked on cars as a hobby all my life and never owned a garage, not through choice, but it does make some work take longer to achieve, looking car over monday before the mot we were bathed in sunshine, next day i drove it there in torrential rain, and tonight its snowing, god i love this country, but also love my "new" drophead and am determined to get it looking like it did in 81.... or maybe even better.... just dont set me a time limit...lol

I drove my DHC with the Parrish Plastics hardtop every day last week to work, but on Monday of this week, I noticed the oil filter spin on adapter leaking noticeably, the choke (FASD) staying closed, and maybe an exhaust leak. Since it was about 10 degrees outside, I decided to park it for few days. It's supposed to hit 70 on Saturday. Sounds like I have the day planned.
