<font face="Comic Sans MS"><font size="3"><font color="blue">Hello - I will soon be looking at refitting my windscreen to my FHC. My first question is are the FHC and DHC windcreens interchangeable [?] (50% success rate in removing the windscreens - guess which one I broke [:(][?] Yes, the FHC one [:(!], so will my DHC one fit a FHC [?]).

The second question is do I need to purchase the proper refitting kit with the heating element or is there a simpler method[?] I was thinking that maybe some modern clear silicone sealant might do the job[:o)], but would appreciate your thoughts. I have the chrome trim which I'd really like to refit, so again any ideas on how the whole lot will go back together would be appreciated.

Agree with the posts on the thread about using a pro. DO NOT use silicone adhesive. It isn't for installing windshields. My glass pro put mine in with urethane, mldgs & all. I expressed my concerns about the mldgs and he said if it ever needs changed out again to call him, not a problem.

Yes both windscreens (from FHC and DHC) are the same.

Fitting is easy, just make sure both opening and screen are clean. The kit with heating element is no longer available, plus normal silicone sealant won't work.

Sikaflex has been around for years, I had a screen fitted to my TR7 in the 80's by an Autoglass man and thats what he used. He basically applied the sealant to the screen, fitted suction cups and we both lifted it and lowered it in, he cut 2 small rubber blocks and put them at the lower edge of the screen to centralize it, then pushed in the chrome strips and thats it. Its not rocket science!!

Sikaflex indeed is good stuff.
Make sure to use a PU based sealant combined with a proper primer for the glass surface.

if the chrome trim isn't twisted or warped it will clip on tne glass before fixing
as mentioned during a conversation with one of the lads from robsport last year at billing.........

I knocked on his window - £50 (the kit would have cost me £10, so effectively it's only going to be £40). That'll do for me, so thanks for your help with this but I reckon I'll pay the pro this time.
