Strut Brace

Getting a strut brace was a low priority until I made the mistake of looking for one on our local auction web site. Various Japanese braces are going for $100 or less. I have asked to view a coupleof adjustable braces from a Honda & a Mitsi but haven't heard back yet.
Has anyone had experience in fitting or adapting strut braces from other marques for our cars?

My son tried to convince me that I needed a strut brace for mine.
1) I couldn't work out how it would clear my pancake filter on top of the V8 and still provide any rigidity.
2) With a DHC there's probably not much benefit since the chassis flexes about anyway. (Extended Grinnal sills would probably help here but have you seen the rust behind some of them)
Sounds good for a FHC though...

This is for a FHC & I have a smaller triangle type ramflo filter & there is a clear line from the front of the turrets so it wouldn't need to be bent.

I prefer a strut brace that's mounted to the top mount.

This is the kind of thing I'm looking at...
The spoiler on that race car looks like a cut down MR2 wing.

Hi,
Phil (Chunk) has a universal one i beleive.
Under bonnet shot of Phils 'old car'
I would think it has to help with a DHC, after fitting a rool over bar in the back of my DHC it felt more rigid so front must help.
The spoiler on that race car looks like a MG Montego boot spoiler, a direct fit, no cutting fits straight on and IMHO the best looking of the options
Cheers John

I'm looking towards fabricating something that trangulates back to the scuttle such as Woody or Teds. I think that way it should also shore up some of the scuttle shake with the DHC. Maybe not as much a factor with a FHC. Would require eliminating the air plenum and some custom ductwork to replace it so not a simple project. Plus I would want it easily removable for engine service. I too thought about modifying one from another car. Ones for Mustangs & Hondas are really cheap.
