You only have to loosen the two nuts/bolts (arrowed in the picture) ...

This enables you to move the alternator enough to replace the fan belt.
The lower one can be rusted solid in the bracket/alternator.

Soak it in Plus-Gas. If still no good - apply heat!

Bolts are cheap so if you have to then go ahead & cut it, grind it or split the nut.

Bashing a seized bolt with a hammer & cold chisel is great therapy.

Peter, that was just the thought i was having myself, i'll try the heat method and if that dont work, try the hammer effect!

I've had excellent luck with PB Blaster. Spray it, wait a couple minutes, take a few steroids, muscle up, and turn that bad boy!

Hi Steve,

Just a silly answer and I'm sure you have already checked, there isn't a nut on the back stopping you undoing the bolt is there?

If you do decide to go down the heat route obviously take great care with the aluminium parts.

Just a thought.
Cheers

Hi Ian, many thanks yes i had thought that too, but did check and nothin behind it, i think if im being honest its just seized, i'll have a blast with some plusgas and see what happens, im sure if i persevere it will come in the end.
