Crush Sleeves

Postby Underdog » 21 Jan 2009 14:29

I have gathered from previous posts that the crush sleeves for the TR7/8 5spd axles are near impossible to source? In my research of rear axles, I picked something up that the Mustang people do. Evidently, they use a machined spacer and a series of shims to replace the colapsible spacer. Requires some fiddling to get the preload correct but once done, there is no need to replace the collapsible sleeve. Plus there is no chance of overtorqueing the pinion nut. Just thought this may be a good modification to our rear gear setups also.

Crush sleeves:
I was looking at the center section of the rear and it looks very close to one I worked last year. What are measurements on the crush
sleeve? What are the measurements on the diameter of the ring gear.
